TechTip Thursday: How Shorten Your URLs!!

Tired of long messy URLs?  Make it look cleaner and take a URL like this: 

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/apple-ipad-air-with-wi-fi-16gb-silver-white/2579045.p?id=1219074892314 

and turn it in to this:

http://goo.gl/LnBGa0

Simply go to https://goo.gl/ or Google search URL shortener and you will be taken here.

Then just copy and paste your link, and it'll produce it shortened!

You can also track how often your links have been clicked and what links you have shortened. 

There you have it! A simple and easy way to share your content with people without messy URLs

TechTip Thursday: How Switch Between Programs Without Minimizing!!!

Stuck in one program or window, but want to switch out quickly? Well today I'm going to show you a quick way to easily switch between screens.

In order to do this you will simply need to press two different buttons "alt" and "tab".

First hold down the alt button, then press the tab button. A small screen will appear with your open programs.

From this screen you can cycle through your programs by pressing tab as you hold down the alt key.

There you have it!!! A quick and simple way to cycle through your open programs.

How To: Sign into Lynda.com

Hey everyone, today I will show you the simple and easy way to sign into Lynda.com with your Fresno State username. Lynda.com is an "educational youtube" that specializes in teach you skills from different creative field. Normally this services costs 40$ a month. Now thanks to Fresno State you get this service for free!!!

So how can you start? It's easy!

First go to Lynda.com and click the sign in button. From here you will enter in your school on the left hand side of the popup box. The GIF below shows this process:

You will then be brought to the Fresno State sign in page.

Simply enter your information, press login, and there you have it! Your own Lynda profile ready to go!

TechTip Thursday: Screen upside down??? Learn how to fix it!!

Every have your screen flip for some reason? Maybe you were just trying to do homework and your pet decides to walk all over your keyboard and messes it all up. Well, instead of having to reset your computer or spend 20 minutes trying to figure it out. Here is the secret!!!


Windows:

Simply Press; CTRL + ATL + "Any directional key"










Doing so will rotate your screen in the direction that you press the key.


Mac:

For Mac users you can rotate the screen through "Display Settings".

Step 1: Launch your System Preferences

Step 2: Hold down the Command and Option keys while clicking the Display icon under system preferences. Let go of the keys when the Display window appears. 

Step 3: You can now select from 90, 180, or 270 degrees in the rotation drop down menu.

There you have it, now you can rotate no problem!

TechTip Thursday: Find an image source through Google image search.

Find an image you like on the web, but don't know where it came from? You can easily search for the source through Google's image search engine.

Simply go to Google.com, click on the images tab, then just drag and drop any image from a web site onto the Google image search page.
